Our Spring Cleaning Checklist for All Our Franchisees

Spring is often the busiest time of year for our franchisees, followed only by the stressful runup to the festive period. So, if you’re still recovering from the demand your business experienced over December and dreading the spring cleaning bookings that will soon be flooding in, try not to worry! With Domestique, you will always have the support that you need to manage demand and meet client expectations, which is why we’ve put together our ultimate spring cleaning checklist to make these next few weeks much more manageable!

The Living Room

If your clients haven’t specified any particular areas that they would like you to include in their spring clean, it is safe to assume that they mean the whole house, so start on the ground floor.

The living room, playroom, and sunroom are the areas of a home that your clients will spend the majority of their time in, particularly as the daylight hours continue to increase, so make sure that your teams:

  • Dust all curtains, lampshades and corners
  • Clean the windowsills
  • Sanitise and dust all surfaces
  • Hoover the upholstery (if requested by the client)
  • Sweep, mop and hoover the floors
  • Offer an optional carpet cleaning service to complete the clean

Remind your teams to avoid moving any household objects such as toys, remotes, and personal items unless necessary, as your teams are there to clean rather than refresh the space, so leave this to your clients instead.

The Kitchen

Staying on the ground floor, it’s now time to tackle the kitchen. Request that your clients remove any rubbish and clutter in advance and leave the kitchen in a presentable state to save you time, then you can get started on the following:

  • Sweep and clean the floors
  • Disinfect all surfaces and countertops
  • Clean the sink, taps and grout
  • Clean the oven (available as an optional service)
  • Clean the hob and extractor fan
  • Wipe down all countertop appliances

Cleaning out the fridge and cupboards is a tickbox that is often included in a home spring cleaning checklist, but this is best left to your clients as this is more of a lifestyle task than a cleaning task.

The Bathroom

Now it’s time to head upstairs and make a start on cleaning the bathroom. We recommend opening the windows for this room, as you’ll be using a lot of cleaning products, and completing the following tasks in this order:

  • Pour disinfectant down all the drains and unclog them if necessary
  • Clean and disinfect the bath
  • Clean the shower head, walls and glass door
  • Clean all taps and mirrors
  • Clean the toilet seat, lid and bowl
  • Sweep and mop the floors

This room often takes the longest to clean, so make sure that you leave enough time to clean the final rooms on your spring cleaning checklist - the bedrooms.

The Bedroom

Start with the master bedroom and work your way through the household, and don’t forget to clean any ensuite bathrooms as well. We highly recommend using allergy-friendly cleaning products when cleaning bedrooms and make sure you offer your clients a mattress cleaning service to improve their sleep quality, before completing the following:

  • Dust lights and lampshades
  • Clean the window sills
  • Clean mirrors and photos
  • Clean all surfaces, including wardrobe doors
  • Hoover everywhere, including under the bed
